GEICO Signs on to Sponsor Local Bowl Game Media Network
Producers of the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl and San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl football games announced today that GEICO has agreed to serve as title sponsor of the San Diego Bowl Game Media Network.
The network launches tonight (Tuesday, October 16) with the debut of GEICO's Bowl Game TV on Channel 4 San Diego at 9 p.m. The network continues for ten weeks and can also be heard on GEICO's Bowl Game Radio (ESPN 1700 and XX 1090) and read via The GEICO Bowl Game Review (U-T San Diego). A complete network schedule can be found on each game's website.
"We are so grateful to GEICO for stepping up to be the lead sponsor of this unique marketing effort around our games," said John Wertz, president of the 2012 bowl game association. "We truly are proud to partner on this project with a company with such a great brand and reputation."
Bowl network programming will also be made available on a delayed basis via the internet at www.BridgepointEducationHolidayBowl.com and www.PoinsettiaBowl.com and now via each game's free web-based mobile applications.
San Diego-based Uwanna, Inc. sponsored and developed apps for each game with the aim of providing a one-stop shop for bowl ticket holders and fans. They will feature a weekly team selection blog, bowl events, local attractions, restaurants, hotels, game night festivities, parking information and more. QR codes to download the free apps are available on each game's website.
Uwanna, Inc. specializes in developing mobile web applications for the hospitality, tourism, and events industries. The Uwanna platform is a self-service mobile app management program that enables hotels, attractions, venues, communities, and events to deliver highly specialized content and sponsorship information to guests and attendees. "Uwanna is proud to partner with the bowl game association to give attendees a mobile guide to the week of events leading up to the big games," says Robert Hanczor, Uwanna CEO.
